Well, here we go

I'm writing this blog to document my journey on a bicycle!
A meeting with an old friend had me talking about a venture he embarking upon, raid ing money for a charity which he need to use in his time of crisis.

My wife, listened to the story intently and decided for me that I should accompany David on his journey and thus volunteered me.

The journey? 200 miles, coast to coast in the first week of the Summer school holidays on a bike in no more than three days.

Ok, my legs suddenly turn to jelly at the very thought of this, but hey, what the hell.

I already had a nice bike, bought it in a fit of nostalgia a couple of years ago, wanting to get back to my youth. Always on my bike riding around and enjoying the fresh air. Guess it must have been in the genes, my Dad always cycled to work, around 20 miles a day or so. Legs like a bloody whippet! His, not mine.

I decided to get some clothing if I was going to do this properly. I had a helmet but needed to get a shirt, some padded shorts, gloves and some shoes.
After scouring the Internet for some reasonably priced gear, I purchased and awaited the package.

Well it arrived and I tried them on and hey presto, I was Lance Armstrong reincarnated! Well ok, a slightly larger belly, but that was going to change!
